Luke Skywalker Has A Fire Burning In His Eyes In Star Wars: Episode VII

fb share tweet share

Now that we know the title of the next Star Wars movie, there’s nothing more to discuss, right? Oh wait, there’s still everything to speculate about because aside from the fact that it is now officially called Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we still don’t know all that much. But now there’s a report going around that could shed some light on the state of one of the returning characters: Luke Skywalker.

Two things. First, SPOILERS! SPOILERS!! SPOILERS!!! Or at least potential ones. Which brings us to point number two, this is completely unsubstantiated, and though it does seem to jive with other things we’ve heard, take it with a grain of salt.

Star Wars: Episode VII Just Got This Official Title

fb share tweet share

Han SoloWell here it is, the moment you’ve been waiting for since Disney bought Lucasfilm and announced there will be more Star Wars movies. We’re not talking about any official plot details or looks at the movie or anything like that, but now we do know what the J.J. Abrams-directed film is subtitled. Meet Star Wars: Episode VII—The Force Awakens.

This is…a title. To be honest, I don’t have particularly strong feelings on it either way, it’s just kind of bland. It’s also a serious departure from the super dramatic monikers like The Empire Strikes Back, The Phantom Menace, and Revenge of the Sith. Then again, Return of the Jedi isn’t the liveliest title ever. I have to say it’s better than The Ancient Fear, which was rumored to be the working title a while back.

Star Wars: Episode VII’s Villain May Wield This Medieval Weapon

fb share tweet share

Star WarsJust because Star Wars: Episode VII has wrapped up principal photography, that doesn’t mean that we’re going to stop hearing news and reports and rumors floating around the airwaves from all different directions. We just won’t see any more set photos taken from planes circling overhead or from spy drones (seriously, that’s mind boggling). In fact, another one is making the rounds and claims to offer some details about a potential villain.

There are, this should be obvious by now, possible SPOILERS beyond this point. There’s nothing too specific, but if you’re trying to maintain the mystery, maybe you should do something else. Also, these are unofficial, unsubstantiated reports, so take them with a grain of salt.

Star Wars: Episode VII Filmed An Entire Action Scene In IMAX, Here’s Why

fb share tweet share

star warsStar Wars: Episode VII is going to be big in just about everyway a movie can be. It’s going to kick off the expansion of the revamped Star Wars universe with a big, sprawling story that may or may not contain some big surprises. And it’s going to be quite a big deal, not to mention one hell of a big force at the box office. In addition to all of that, it’s going to big movie that plays on big screens. While director J.J. Abrams is shooting the movie on actual 35mm film in order to capture the feel of the original, he’s also using IMAX from time to time. While it doesn’t sound like this will come into play all that much, at least one key action scene has been photographed in this big format.

IMAX cameras are known for being rather large, cumbersome, and heavy, not to mention the fact that they’re pricey and reportedly loud as all hell. In short, they’re a pain in the ass to shoot with, which is why most movies don’t use them, and why there aren’t many movies shot entirely in the format, despite how cool it looks. The fact that Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar contains a full hour of IMAX footage is impressive, but you have to imagine that this is primarily epic space shots, not the close in family drama.

Star Wars: Episode VII Trailer Could Drop Sooner Than You Think, Get The Details Here

fb share tweet share

Star WarsWe won’t actually see Star Wars: Episode VII until December 18, 2015—we’ll just have to satisfy ourselves by gorging on Star Wars Rebels in the interim—but we might get our first look at the film by the end of the year. That is, aside from leaked concept art and set photos taken by aerial drones (we really do live in a world where movie sets are under siege by spy drones). Reports say that the first trailer for Episode VII may appear before the year is out and that it will feature new original music by none other than John Williams.

This news comes from John Williams Fan Network, which says that not only does the legendary Star Wars composer actually have the teaser trailer in his possession—probably with a heavily armed, Disney-funded private security force surrounding him at all times, even when he’s in the can—but he’s going to record the new music for it very soon. That’s good news, because as we all know, the best part of the prequels was Williams’ score.

Star Wars: Episode VII Contains This Fun Nod To Han Solo’s Mischievous Ways

fb share tweet share

Han SoloIt’s no secret that Han Solo and Harrison Ford are both back for J.J. AbramsStar Wars: Episode VII. That’s about all we know for sure (except for that whole broken leg thing), but at least it’s something. We’ve heard rumors and unofficial reports about what he might be up to, but that’s all it is at this point. Still, if this latest bit of information has any truth to it, it could be a fun little nod to longtime fans of the franchise.

This may stray into SPOILER territory, so read on if you dare. It’s not huge, but you’ve been warned.
