Talking to Le Grande Journal Weaver revealed that she’s spoken to James Cameron about Avatar 2 and she plans to reprise her role as Dr. Grace Augustine… even though by the end of the first movie Grace was very, very dead.
Should that have come with a spoiler warning? Oh come on, if you haven’t seen Avatar by now you’re probably never going to. read this entry »
Disney’s Tron: Legacy viral marketing campaign last week revealed more than just an image. It also resulted in a special even in which the much sought after, brand new trailer for Tron: Legacy debuted in IMAX 3D theaters in select cities. Actually this is the first trailer for the film. The footage you’ve probably already seen was actually test footage made before real work began on the film. But this is a real trailer and your first chance to see it will be this coming Friday in front of Alice in Wonderland.
But this is the internet, where you only wait if you want to. Our friends at Cinema Blend were at the special IMAX debut of the trailer this morning, and caught all of the action. Here’s a few highlights from what they saw: read this entry »
Repo Men takes the plot of Repo! The Genetic Opera and removes the music. Ok so the idea of a future in which organs are sold and then repossessed by cold-blooded corporate agents isn’t all that original. But the marketing campaign for it is, at least, a lot of fun. Here’s the latest batch of awesome Repo Men posters:
This is not a joke. The students of the of Mississippi University have voted in Admiral Ackbar as the school’s new, official mascot. AllVoices says the university, looking for a new symbol which would launch them into the new millenium, put the choosing of their new mascot to a student body vote. The Star Wars nerd infested student body voted for Admiral Ackbar, Supreme Commander of the Rebel Alliance Fleet as their man.
There’s only one hangup here. The university’s Mascot Committee stands between Ackbar and collegiate immortality. It’s possible that they could overrule the vote, though we hope not. If they let their Ackbar flag fly, Ole Miss is suddenly the world’s most beloved geek university. It may however, not be the best place to go if you’re hoping to meet girls.
Putting Ackbar in this position of responsibility makes sense. He’s smart, confident, a product of diverse ethnic origins, and he can breathe underwater. He’s a leader of men, in a position of supreme authority, and he’s not the kind of guy you can lure into a trap. He’s the perfect mascot really. Make it happen Ole Miss!
Before Shatner joined us all in on the joke and decided not to take himself seriously, he was kind of a pompous ass. We loved him for it, but that’s what he was. That’s never been more evident than it is in an interview on the Star Trek 5 dvd where a younger Shatner sits on top of a cliff and talks about how much he wants to make love to a mountain. No really.
The interview on its own is hilarious, but it only gets even more hilarious when you turn it into a dance mix. Yep, someone did it and here it is:
The Tron: Legacy viral game we’ve been waiting for is live and happening right now! Go to zerohour to play. How it works is like this: Instructions are appearing for different cities. Those instructions will lead you to a contact. In many cities, the locations are arcades, which I suppose makes sense.
So where’s this all leading? On the viral site classic Tron images are starting to appear on a grid. Click the images and they flip over to reveal they’re all part of a larger image. What is that image? It looks like a new Tron: Legacy poster. Could that be where all of this is leading? We’ll find out.
As I type this Austin, London, Madrid, and New York have instructions posted waiting to be solved. Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Orlando, and Paris have already been solved. There’s lots more to come! Updates as it develops.
In just a few hours, at 8am PST and 11am EST, the countdown running on the Tron: Legacy viral site Zerohour will count down and lead us to… well nobody knows. But tonight the Flynn Lives site sent out a new email which offers clues to those already signed up with the site. Here it is:

Columbia Pictures is bringing the pulp-era Doc Savage series to life on the big screen. It’s in the hands of Shane Black, the guy responsible for the extremely awesome film noir movie Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Here’s how Variety explains it:
Shane Black is attached to direct the film from a screenplay he is penning with Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry. Neal Moritz (“Fast and Furious”) will produce through his Sony-based Original Film banner.
First appearing in pulp magazines published during the 30s and 40s, Doc Savage is a multi-talented man of science. A physician, surgeon, scientist, adventurer, inventor, explorer, researcher, and musician with outstanding mental and physical abilities honed by training form a team of scientists hired by his father. He puts his abilities to the test in a series of heroic, adventures.
Get ready to replace that tattered old Jerri Ryan poster. This fall you’ll find a new replacement when Olivia Wilde shows up as the official computerized love interest in Tron: Legacy. She’s been on the scene for awhile but this is the first time she’s really done anything, outside of the wearing a bikini, worthy of putting her on your nerd radar. But why wait to start your Olivia Wilde obsession? This week she’s on stands in Elle Magazine, doing a ridiculously hot photoshoot. In honor of her hotness, we’ve got the images from her Elle shoot below, along with some of her other more poster worthy work from the past. Browse the gallery after the jump, get her on your desktop, and hope Tron: Legacy has ditched those bulky, plastic outfits of the original movie in favor of digitized bikinis. read this entry »
