GFR has a presence at Comic Con and by all accounts, they are having a great time. Tons of great things are happening there but my favorite thing so far has to do with a sequel to one of GFR's favorite flicks, TRON. If you are a fan of Tron like we are, take a look at the video below:

Wow...just wow. If the general public can be half as excited as the nerds at Comic Con, we will have a great flick on our hands.

Star Trek: Remastered is all new this weekend on July 12th, with the cleaned up, spiffed up episode of The Cloud Minders airing everywhere in syndication.

Trek legend Michael Okuda has sent us an advance look at what they have in store for us this Saturday, with a sample image from the newly remastered episode. You can see it below, along with Mike's explanation of exactly what it is after the jump:

ID4Let's be honest, Hancock is getting terrible reviews. However, I understand your need to have some Big Willie Style on the Fourth of July. Fear not. Fox Movie Channel is showing Independence Day all day long. That's right! You get to watch Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, and Randy Quaid kick some tentacled ass on America's Birthday. HELL YEAH! Check your local listings for the channel but if you have Directv like me, I will be glued to channel 258 all day. As an added bonus, the movie is alternating with a 45 minute Making of Independence Day documentary.

Happy July 4th all you patriots!

dayearth45435.jpgThe remake of Day the Earth Stood Still has its first trailer. Keanu Reeves stars as an alien who lands on Earth to warn us of an impending attack, if we don't change our evil, wasteful ways. I think he wants us to recycle or something. See the trailer in high-res over at Apple.com.

newspock Has The Star Trek Trailer Been Seen?

Our good friends over at Cinema Blend have received an anonymous description about the next Star Trek trailer. If it turns out to be true, you better buy your Vulcan ears early. They will be in hot demand. Here's a small part of the trailer's description:

Paramount logo shows (newly updated) and pans up into the stars... Then an incredible (new?) musical score begins which sounds as if a little of Trek 2 and 3 scores were blended in. Switches to shots of stunning starfields. Closeups of the Enterprise hull while voice-over begins. Narration from older Spock: "The needs of the many... outweigh the needs of the few.." quick pause... Younger Spock: "Or the one" (Quintos line seemed so Leonard Nimoy sounding!)Switch to shot of Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto standing together looking over a horizon at the Enterprise on Earth with an epic city in the background.

To read the entire trailer scoop, click here. I've never been a Star Trek geek. Not in the slightest. I haven't seen a Star Trek film in theatres since Star Trek 3 but I'm really excited about J.J. Abrams's reboot of the franchise.

Pixar is not just known for excellent films. They are also known for excellent cameos. I remember watching Monster's Inc. and spotting toy versions of Jessie the Cowgirl and Nemo, even before Nemo hit theatres! A friend showed me a Youtube video where people went back and scoured the old Pixar films to find some evidence of Wall-E. It appears that they have! Watch the video below and you be the judge.

Wall-E scraped together approximately $63 million in its opening weekend to take the number one spot at last weekend's box office. The $63 million made Wall-E the third highest opening weekend ever for a Pixar film just after The Incredibles and Finding Nemo. So far, Wall-E is garnering universal praise from the likes of Cinema Blend, Rolling Stone, an, hell, even the Wall Street Journal loved it. High praise indeed! With the five day long Independence Day weekend beginning today, expect Wall-E to take in an additional $60 million by Sunday evening.
